Sarita Rav is an Indian classical, folk and fusion singer from Jaipur, Rajasthan. Over the years she has been performing and recording extensively both in India and Europe.
Sarita received her Rajasthan Sangeet Diploma in 2016, where she was studying music under the supervision of Sangeeta Arya. Besides that, Sarita also holds both a Bachelor and a Master degree in Arts and HIndi literature.
Her first solo performance was at Samode Castle on International Peace Day in 2015, the same year she did a solo performance at Jaipur Kabir Ashram too.
In India Sarita performed with many local and international artist, such as Rajasthani folk singer Sadiq Khan (Musafir), French guitarist Pascal Ducourtioux, Iranian percussionist Fardin Mortazavi and legendary fusion band Rajasthan Roots. These concerts took place in various cities around North India like Jaipur, Amer, Jodphur, Fatehpur, Ahmedabad and New Delhi.
In 2018 Sarita toured for three months in France with Hameed Khan Kawa, bringing traditional Rajasthani songs, sufi songs, bhajans and classical raga's to a French audience. Hameed Khan Kawa is a respected tabla player, bandleader of Kawa brassband and former bandleader of Rajasthani folk group Musafir.
In 2019 Sarita started a fusion band with Dutch drummer Otto de Jong under the name of Jaipur Junction. Blending traditional music from the East with contemporary jazz and indie from the West. Together they have toured in both Europe and India. They recorded their first album "Kyon Nahin" with Erwin Tuijl in Utrecht, The Netherlands and released the album in autumn 2020. The album contains renditions of traditional songs. arranged for just vocals and drums. Sarita and Otto are currently working on their second album which will have original songs only. Sarita is now writing her own lyrics, putting her poems to new, original melodies.
Sarita is also a passionate music teacher. She teaches different aspects of North Indian music to both local and international students. She teaches live at Kawa Cultural Centre in Jaipur and has a growing group of students from all over the world who follow her classes online. On top of that Sarita gained respectable experience in giving masterclasses and workshops in Europe.
